Chinese Leaking Windows The $100,000 Mistake Nobody Talks About
The $100,000 Mistake Nobody Talks About
A container of 40 windows arrives on site. The surveyor refuses occupancy. Glass unmarked. Screws corroding. The AS 2047 certificate covers a different profile series. The warranty? An email from a salesperson who's left the company.
This is the most common failure in offshore window procurement — and it's entirely preventable.
On the Cypress Lane retirement village, we did it differently. 35 factories audited to one verified Tier 1 partner. Every certificate authenticated against issuing bodies. Every screw checked — SS304, coastal-rated. Doric hardware. Payment gated behind third-party QC. A signed 10-year back-to-back warranty before a single unit shipped.
The defects that never happened — the failed roller, the corroded fixing, the unverifiable certificate — are the point.
China-direct savings reach 55%. They evaporate when a container is rejected.
Verify. Inspect. Document. Then buy.
