How Dracon's China supply-chain audit identified genuine long-term partners for the Australia and New Zealand market

Finding a Chinese scaffolding supplier is not the hard part. Finding one that can consistently meet technical, compliance and documentation expectations is where the real work begins. That is why Dracon ran a broad supply-chain review across more than 55 scaffolding factories, assessing aluminium systems, steel systems, production capability, quality discipline, compliance readiness and long-term supply potential. The goal was never the cheapest factory. The goal was suppliers that could support serious scaffold businesses with repeatable quality, traceability, tested performance and commercial maturity.

After that review, two suppliers stood out and made the top tier. Both are strong. Both are credible. Both now carry live orders for New Zealand and Australian clients. But they earned that status for different reasons — and understanding that difference is exactly what our clients pay us to know.

What the Audit Measured

Dracon's due diligence went well beyond brochures and price lists. Every factory was assessed on whole-system and component test evidence against AS/NZS 1576 and EN 12811 frameworks, certification currency and scope, production equipment and manufacturing depth, welding and fabrication control, material traceability and mill certification, internal documentation discipline, galvanizing control, export readiness and repeat-order suitability. This matters because the best supplier is rarely the one with the best price list. The best supplier is the one that still performs when documentation, quality and delivery discipline are tested under pressure.

Supplier One — Certified System Performance at Serious Scale

Our first top-tier supplier earned its position on the strength of genuine, independently witnessed system certification — not component claims, but full scaffold assemblies tested to the Australian and New Zealand standard. Its Ringlock system passed fully-planked assembly testing to AS/NZS 1576.3:2015 at 20 metres with one working platform and 10 metres with two, alongside certified component results across transoms loaded to 6.6 kN, hop-up brackets, adjustable baseplates and complete guardrail systems. Its Kwikstage scaffold assembly holds independent test certification to the same standard, and its Cuplock system has been tested under EN 12811-1. Quality management is certified to ISO 9001:2015 with current validity, and mill test certificates accompany every order — heat numbers, yield strength, tensile strength, elongation and bend results, batch by batch. On a recent live order, yield results came back at 399 MPa against a 355 MPa requirement. That is the kind of margin we look for.

The scale behind that paperwork is equally real: founded in the late 1990s, the group operates 23 scaffolding production lines with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons from its northern manufacturing base, and has spent decades building export discipline across exactly the markets our clients operate in. This is the supplier we turn to when the order demands proven AS/NZS system certification across multiple scaffold types — Ringlock, Kwikstage, Cuplock — backed by documentation that stands up to scrutiny.

Supplier Two — European-Grade Certification Depth and Automated Manufacture

Our second top-tier supplier earned its position through certification breadth and manufacturing automation at a level rarely seen in this sector. Its certificate portfolio spans ISO 9001:2015 quality management, EN 1090-2 and EN 1090-3 structural steel and aluminium fabrication to Execution Class 3, EN 3834-2 welding quality systems, EN 12811-1 scaffolding performance, EN 12811-3 load testing, and AS 1576.3:2015+A1 certification for its aluminium ringlock system — with key certificates current through 2029 and 2030. Independent factory production-control audits are conducted by an international certification body as part of that framework.

The manufacturing base matches the paperwork: four production facilities covering roughly 128,000 square metres, more than 1,180 employees, predominantly automated production lines, a dedicated aluminium workshop, and fully automatic in-house hot-dip galvanizing lines — which means coating quality is controlled inside the same fence as fabrication, not subcontracted out of sight. Export volume exceeds 500 containers a month across Europe, North America and Oceania. Its product range runs deep in both directions: steel Ringlock, Cuplock, Kwikstage, frame systems and shoring, and a full aluminium line spanning ringlock systems, platforms, decks, stairs, lattice beams and tower systems. This is the supplier we turn to when the order demands certified welding procedure control, EXC 3 structural execution and aluminium system depth under a single quality umbrella.
